A Miniature Dachshund may be small, but he has plenty of zip. Along with daily walks, you can help drain his energy with some lively games.
There's nothing your little hound will enjoy more than playing fetch. Retrieving balls and squeaky toys is his idea of nirvana. And it's a good opportunity to teach him the command “drop it.” Tug can be fun, too, as long as it isn't rough, and you are the one who starts and ends the game.
Hide and seek is fun and exciting, especially if your dog already knows how to “sit” and “stay.” Or he might enjoy learning a few tricks, such as “high-five” or “take a bow.” Taking the time to play with your Mini Dachshund will give him a fitter mind and body, and give you a more relaxed and happier pet.
